This mission can now also be found throughout the company. This is how we strive to guarantee the quality you know from the past. In this way, you as a consumer are always assured of a top product that will give you pleasure for generations.
How it all started
It often happens that we hear people say: “Heemskerk? I remember that from before” and that is not surprising. We have been around for over 80 years.
It all started with 4 Heemskerk brothers. They were engaged in making boats in the family business, “Heemskerk's Scheepsbouw- en Timmerbedrijf” in Roelofarendsveen. In their free time they played table tennis fanatically at the local table tennis club “de Treffers”.
And because the brothers were so good at both table tennis and woodworking, the association asked if they could make a handmade table tennis table. In 1939 the very first sale of a Heemskerk table tennis table was a fact!
The quality of this table did not go unnoticed and there was also a demand from outside Roelofarendsveen to produce ping pong tables and later also table tennis bats. Two of the brothers, Nico and Wout, decided to split off and continue together as Heemskerk Sport.
Fun and Movement
A Heemskerk product can be used anytime, anywhere. There is a suitable gaming table available for every location.
For example, there are already professional table tennis tables at various associations in the Netherlands, we have been able to deliver sturdy football tables to a lot of company canteens, including big names such as Jumbo Supermarkets and Mentos, and a lot of families regularly play a game. sjoelen on a Heemskerk shuffleboard.
Sports & Games
Our goal is to get as many people as possible to exercise in a fun way. That is why you will find the right table for every level in our range.
Children already start in a playful way with one of the mini tables, and for adults a distinction has been made between “games” and “sports” gaming tables. Games tables are most suitable if you are a beginner or recreational player and the sports tables are more intended for players who practice their favorite game at a higher level, for example in competition.
For every level
We have also considered people who are less mobile, or who have less strength. This is how the shul catapult ensures that you can stay sjoelen, even if the strength in your hands decreases.
But we are most proud of sliding table tennis. This project, in collaboration with the NTTB, the Dirk Kuyt Foundation and the Johan Cruyff Foundation, ensures that table tennis is accessible to everyone.
Innovation
We always like to listen to you as a customer. You let us know what we are doing well, but also where there is room for improvement. This has already led to improvements to existing products, expansion of the range and the design of new articles on a number of occasions. A good example of this is our Heemskerk shuffleboard table. Which we specially developed after several requests from customers.
In recent years, agreements have also been made with the Dutch Table Football Association, say the KNVB for table football, and Heemskerk can call itself an official partner of the NTVB.
Heemskerk across the border
Although the Netherlands is still at the top of our market, the demand for Heemskerk gaming tables from other countries is increasing.
You have been able to order Heemskerk shuffleboards from our dealer in the US and New Zealand for several years now. And with the help of various platforms, our table tennis tables and football tables are also available in Belgium, Germany and Norway, among others.
But we won't stop until the whole world can play on a Heemskerk.
