Let's assume the following fact: you want a table tennis table, but does it fit in the space available for it?
Then we start with the size of the ping pong table itself. There are mini tables, midi tables and full-size table tennis tables with formats that are also used in official competitions.
Type | Length | Width | Height | Net height |
Mini | 90 cm | 45 cm | 76 cm | 15,25 cm |
Midi | 150 cm | 75 cm | 76 cm | 15,25 cm |
Competition format | 274 cm | 152,5 cm | 76 cm | 15,25 cm |
Our table tennis tables can be delivered assembled. It is therefore important that the road leading to space is easily accessible and spacious enough.
Does the table tennis table have to go to the attic? Then keep in mind whether the stairwell is large enough to lift the ping pong table through.
Even if you want to receive a table unassembled, it is good to know that the packaging of the box also has a considerable size. The box of the popular Heemskerk Novi 2400 has a size of 162 cm by 144 cm. The height of the box is 10 cm.
To play on a table tennis table at home, you need enough space for the table, but how much?
Do not freak out. The International Table Tennis Federation prescribes a space of 14 meters by 7 meters for competitions. This seems like a huge amount of space, but understand these dimensions for good professional table tennis players are really needed.
They play at a considerable distance from the table and most of the time not directly at the table. For a recreational player, who mainly sees ping pong as a hobby, these are in no way realistic dimensions.
To get a good idea of how a ping pong table will fit into your space, we recommend that you first use tape to outline the size on the floor or carpet to really understand how big a full size ping pong table really is.
Our advice is that the space you need as a starting or recreational player should be approximately 6 meters by 3,5 meters.
A room of 6 meters by 3,5 meters seems quite large, but this gives players the opportunity to play a little further away from the table.
Certainly in the beginning, and with children, not the entire space around the table will be used. Many beginners tend to play close to the table tennis table, but you will see that after a few weeks or months you will play more quickly at a greater distance from the table.
If you run into limitations indoors, but you do have enough space outside, then a outdoor table tennis table perhaps another solution. Make sure that you do not leave an indoor table outside, because the table tennis tops used for this cannot withstand rain.
